Patricia Ann Groff-Zinkman

Patricia Groff-Zinkan, born April l, 1932, went home to the Lord, Wednesday July 30, in her Mesa home, in the presence of her loving family and friends, after a ten week battle with cancer.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Herman Groff. Patricia’s joyful presence and silly sense of humor, along with her beautiful blue eyes will be dearly missed by her husband Norman Zinkan, her children, Sue Alparone, Sheila Mandoza, Cyndi Imbriale, Rick Groff, 12 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Patricia was born in Lewiston, IL and moved to Arizona in 1956. A long time resident of Glendale, she moved to Mesa in 1991, and was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church. Patricia retired, after 20 years from Food City in 1987. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dancing and traveling as well as her hobby of painting ceramics, and early morning walks. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M., Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Graveside service 9:00 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2008 at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, AZ with memorial services to follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1844 E. Dana Ave., Mesa, AZ.
Louis Michael Gulermovich

Louis Michael Gulermovich 64, died suddenly at his home on Sunday July 27, 2008 in Peoria Arizona. Mr. Gulermovich was born in Watsonville, California on November 30, 1943 to Dixie and Luke Gulermovich. He was a die hard sports fan from birth and played little league baseball and basketball his entire childhood. He was a regular visitor with his brother to the Boys Club during the 50’s. He attended Mora High School, where he was a basketball legion, and graduated in 1961. He spent his adolescent years leaning on his older brother, Andrew Gulermovich, and spoiling his baby sister, Judy Biskup. After high school, he attended Cabrillo College for one year, but decided to enter the work force instead. He tested the waters at PGE and Watsonville Cannery, but decided being a salesman was his calling. Employed at Gold Key furniture store he quickly learned the business and became one of their top sales clerks. He worked for Carpeteria and Carpet Town in Campbell, CA. He eventually moved to Arizona and opened his own business. He was a passionate and focused man who stood for what he believed in.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 23 years, Marjorie Gulermovich, his two daughters Gina and Shelly, his grandchildren, his sister Judy Biskup, and many other family members and friends. Louis’ older brother Andrew Gulermovich passed away this February.
Donations may be made in Louis’ name to any youth sports teams or the Humane Society.

Joan Marie Baird, 71, of Sun City, AZ passed away July 26, 2008. Joan was born May 15, 1937 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania to James & Helen Thornburg De Chellis. She retired to Sun City in 2002. She is survived by her daughters Amy Rodriguez & Kim Prebeg; son John Baird, Jr.; brothers Joseph De Chellis and James De Chellis, Jr. and 4 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John “Bill” Baird on December 22, 1997.
David V. Muir

David Vance Muir, 86 of Youngtown, passed away July 18, 2008. Born May 31, 1922 to Robert and Weva Muir, he joined the Army in 1943 and served during WWII. He was an electrician and general contractor during his working career. David is survived by his loving wife, Lydia and three daughters: Ellen Vandestraat, Susan Muir, and Carla Schearer. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Amercian Lutheran Church, 17200 N. Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, with visitation at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson, Minnesota.

Gerard J. Jack Lavigne, born December 12, 1927, passed away on July 14, 2008, in Peoria, AZ. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Elks Lodge. He was an active member of the New England Square Dancing Association, and was chairman of the New England Convention held in 1976. Gerard worked as a carpenter for SD Warren Co. for 34 years. Gerard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Francine, and sons, Daryl Theresa of Florence, SC, and David Jane, of Windham, ME. He is also survived by grandchildren: Nicole Calden, Rene McPherson, Andrea Lavigne, Katie Babicz, great grandchildren: Molly, Cody, Olivia, and William, brothers: Conrad and Donald, and sister: Lucille. He was predeceased by brothers Marcel and Harvey. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 11:00a.m., at St. Hycinth Church on Brown St., Westbrook, ME.

Rita C. Walsh, 81, of Sun City passed away July 13, 2008. Rita was born January 2, 1927 in Shelby County, IN to Victor & Cecelia Beyer Hammerle. While residing in Toledo, OH, she was a loving parishioner of St. Pius Catholic Church and was employed by St. Pius School where she was in charge of the Audio Visual Dept. After retiring to Sun City in 1977, she resided in the Royal Oaks Retirement Community and was a member of St. Joachim & St. Anne Parish. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Walsh. Survivors include her son Michael Teri Walsh; daughter Martha Ogle; brother Ronald Hammerle; 6 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces & nephews. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. with a rosary at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2008 at St. Joachim & St. Anne Catholic Church, 11625 – 111th Ave., Sun City, AZ. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN.

Catherine D. Gasper, 91 of Sun City, passed away July 12, 2008. She was born November 26, 1916 in Honey Creek, WI. She is survived by her children John Betty Gasper, and Robert Elaine Gasper; brother Lawrence Hubler; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Nicholas, preceded her in death in 1980. Funeral Mass will be held in Sauk City, WI at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery.

Mary C. Hall, 97 of Sun City, AZ, passed away July 12, 2008 in Glendale. She and her husband, George, were from Indiana but lived in Sun City for 14 years. She is survived by her sons, George and Richard; brother Leonard Fracaro; 7 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16th at 11:30 am at Menke Funeral Home in Sun City. Funeral Mass will be at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church at 1:00 pm on July 16th. Interment will follow at Sunland Memorial Park.

Evelyn A. Hallaron, 90, of Sun City passed away July 9, 2008. Evelyn was born Dec. 6, 1917 in Milford, IL to August & Clara Embom Anderson, one of 14 children. She served her country during WWII in the US Navy. Evelyn and husband George moved to Sun City in 1974 from Westchester, IL and she was a member of Eastern Star, Christ Community Church and attended Grace Bible Church. Survivors include her husband George of 61 years. Son Thomas Shirley Hallaron; brother Sidney Anderson and sister Mary Anderson. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Menke Funeral Home Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of donor choice.
