Age 87, went home on July 31, 2009. Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert L. Moore, daughters Carol-Ann Edwards and Gayle Doolittle, 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter. She is preceded in death by daughter S. Maureen Ahern, sons Robert L. Moore and Michael J. Moore, grandson Ricky Moore and granddaughter Meaghan Doolittle. She was born in Meriden, CT and relocated to Arizona in 1987. Shirley was a talented artist and doll maker. Her portrait of John F. Kennedy hangs in the Kennedy library in Boston. She was an insurance actuary with Aetna for 35 years. She was a beautiful person, a leader, outgoing, cheerful, giving, elegant, classy, stylish, funny, talented and brilliant. She and Robert traveled to 56 countries together. A graveside service will be held on August 6th, 9:30 a.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix. She lives in our hearts forever. Menke Funeral Home 623979-6451

Beulah West Bush, 93, of Sun City, AZ passed away July 30, 2009. Beulah was born in Darien Connecticut. A homemaker, she moved to Sun City 30 years ago and was a member of Bellevue Heights Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Walter “Al” Bush; sons Bradford West, Richard West and Gary Bush; grandchildren Becky, Kerri and Matthew. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2009 at Bellevue Heights Baptist Church, 9440 W. Hutton Dr., Sun City, AZ. Interment will be in Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien, CT.

Retired U.S.M.C. Captain, Joseph M. Medina Jr., formerly of Denver, Colorado died Tuesday July 28, 2009 in Sun City, Arizona. Preceding him in death are his father and mother Joseph senior and Geraldine, and his brother Daniel. Surviving are his sister Claudia Kuntz, brother Douglas, son Terry & Douglas along with eight grand children and six great grand children.

Joe, was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed being outdoors and socializing with friends and family. He was an active member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. His personal charm and wit will be deeply missed by those who love him.

Visitation will be held Monday 6:00 P. M. – 8:00 P.M. at Menke Funeral Home 12420 N. 103rd Ave. Sun City, AZ 85351.

83, Went to see the Lord, Monday July 27, 2009. He served in the US Navy during WWII and a graduate of Iowa State University. He was a civil engineer and retired from the Arizona Dept. of Transportation. He was involved in many Sun City organizations during his retirement. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, passion for life and a good family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Esther of 30 years. Sisters, Virginia Glen, Geneva Andy; Brothers, Wayne, Alvin Delores;Mother in law; Lily Brother in laws; William Carolyn, Lorne, Roy Katie; Sons; David Cindy, Steven, James Kimiko; Step daughter Cindy Steve, Step son Bill Pam.
4 granddaughters, Abby, Alyssa, Samantha, Laura; 3 grandsons, Tim, Nicholas, Don and 2 great grandchildren, Brock, Lynzy; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his brother Richard. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 11am at the All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church

of Goodyear, Arizona went to be with his Lord on July 23, 2009 at the age of 64. He was born in 1945, to John and Betty Thompson. He lived and grew up in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Darlene and their children: Ron Foxhoven CA, Michael Foxhoven CO, Rick Thompson ID, Chad Thompson CO, Shurie Barela CO, 7 Grandchildren; John Thompson, brother, CO, and Janet Podboy, sister CO. In 1999, he retired from the Denver Police department after serving for 32 years. He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held August 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Vineyard Church, 255 N. Litchfield Rd., Goodyear, AZ 85395 SE corner of Litchfield and Van Buren623-932-2500. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dick’s honor may be made to the Vineyard Church.

Dorothy Irene Zehnpfennig, 95, died July 19, 2009 in Sun City, AZ.
Dorothy Irene Crouch was born May 19, 1914 to Clifford and Cora Beaver Crouch in Dallas County, IA. The family moved to Mitchell, SD in 1917 where she completed high school and graduated in 1936 with a BA degree in English from Dakota Weslyan University.
Dorothy taught high school English and Latin in Wessington, Ispswich and Parkston, South Dakota. She married Louis Charles Zehnpfennig on May 28, 1941. She continued teaching in Parkston until 1945.
Louis and Dorothy were the parents of five children: Carole m. Jack Morgan, Kathryn Kath Walsh, Charles m. Carla Mahan, Annette m. David Zerfas, and Jannette m. Daniel Wudel.
In addition to being a loving mother, Dorothy worked part time with her husband at Zehnpfennig Motor Company. She joined Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 1956 and was a member of the Altar Society. She participated in the Parkston Women’s Literary Club for many years and served on the Board of St. Benedict’s Hospital.
Louis and Dorothy retired in Sun City, AZ in 1979, where Dorothy resided for the last 30 years. Dorothy was devoted to her Catholic faith, was an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling and playing bridge with her friends in Parkston and Sun City.
Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her children, seven grandchildren Nicole Muchmore m. Chuck Bailey, Andrea and Aaron Zehnpfennig, Justin m. Bobbi Olson and Amy Zerfas, and Adam and Ryan Wudel and two great-grandchildren Ashleigh Morgan Allam and Austin Bailey. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Bernard Crouch, and sisters Lois Wenz and Lora Crouch.
Memorial services at Menke Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Funeral services to be held in Parkston, South Dakota at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on August 1, 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of AZ or Sun City Sunshine Services.

passed away in her Sun City home on July 18th surrounded by family. Born to Frank and Elizabeth Prindiville in Chicago, Illinois, on November 20, 1918. She was a long time resident of Homewood, Il. before moving to Arizona in 1998. She is survived by sons, Thomas Judy of Phoenix, Az. and Jeffery Susan of Homewood, Il; daughter, Sara McDonald of Allen, Tx; daughter-in-law, Patricia Mikes of Swan Hill, Australia; sisters, Mary Gorman of Monee, Il., and Rita John Dreesen of Loudon, Tn; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Alyce volunteered at the Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital in Illinois and Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Az, was an active member of the St. Clement’s Women’s Guild and served as president of her homeowners association.

Alyce said she never met a stranger. Her faith was an inspiration to all.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Community 15800 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Az. 85351 on Thursday, July 23rd at 9:30 am.

Mary Elizabeth Wear, otherwise known as “Betty,” of Peoria, passed away July 17′h, 2009 after 84 beautiful years with us. She was born November 21st, 1924 in Boone, Iowa to Arthur and Mary Bliss. She is survived by her sisters Margaret and Leona, and brother Arthur. Her daughters Kathy and Patty, her grandchildren Ryan, Vaughn, Aubrey, Angela, and Summer. She also had 6 great grandchildren and one on the way! She loved to travel, she always loved to dance, she appreciated good music, she loved to shop with the girls, she was always up on the latest fashion, and she always looked fabulous everywhere she went. Betty was truly an original. We will all miss her laugh, her smile, her quirky comments, and most of all her Grandma B hugs and kisses. The memorial service will take place on Wednesday, July 22″° at 10:30am at the LDS Church 22034 N 83rd Ave., Peoria, AZ 85382. With interment to follow at: National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix AZ 85024, at 12:30. Betty loved flowers, but donations in her honor can also be made to the Arizona Center for the Blind.

Glenn E. Scott, 80, passed away quietly on Friday, July 17, 2009. Glenn lived in Arizona for 73 years. He was a Peoria High School Graduate, a longtime Glendale resident and an APS retiree of 36 years. Glenn was survived by his wife, Billie, daughters Connie Ocell, Glynnis Rob Robinson, Cindy Wes Granger, Kerri Vaughn and DeAna Mark Janco; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service.
