Bonnie Jean Maher, 59, of Sun City passed away March 28, 2010. Bonnie was born in Oakland, California moving to Arizona in 1982 and worked as a Baker. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. She was preceded in death by her husband Kevin Maher in 2002. Survivors include her sons, Kevin Maher (Crystal) and Sean Maher (Heidi); daughter Noel Stepp (Kevin); grandchildren Shane, Bradley, Keith, Kiarra, Kaitlin, Kasey and Shelby. Many loving brothers and sister also survive. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, Arizona.

KERSEY, Clara M. (Yancy)
94, of Glendale, AZ passed away on March 28, 2010. Clara was born on June 20, 1915 in Grand Rivers, KY. She moved to Glendale after high school and was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone as a long distance operator. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Kersey, her parents, Luther S. Yancy and Zella Mae Yancy (Evans), a sister and two brothers. She is survived by son, Don (Judy), grandchildren Bill (Lisa), Bob (Nancy), and Kathy Mann (Pete) and 8 great grandchildren. Survivors also include sister, Mildred Jones of North Platte, NE and brother, Luther S. Yancy Jr. of Glendale and many beloved nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley. A Visitation will be at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with services following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale.

Dorothy Virginia Oddo

Dorothy Virginia (Shifra) Oddo, 81, of Peoria, Arizona, was born on June 18, 1928 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She, and her twin sister, Lorraine (Chris) Pertile were raised in Ironwood, Michigan. Dorothy moved to Chicago after high school graduation, where she met and married Samuel Oddo. Together they celebrated the birth of two children, son Mitchell (Karel) Oddo of Victoria, Minnesota, and daughter Sharon (Harry) Hartman of Peoria, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel, and sister Lorraine. Dorothy has six grandchildren, Gina (Mike) Peabody of McHenry, Illinois, Michelle (Nelson) Juarez of Brownsville, Texas, Eric Oddo of Wilmette, Illinois, Jared (Ashley) Hartman of Peoria, Arizona, Drew Hartman of Mesa, Arizona, and Samuel Oddo of Victoria, Minnesota. She is also great-grandmother to Ashley Harden of McHenry, Illinois, and Mason Hartman of Peoria, Arizona. Dorothy is also step-grandmother to Brian Craine of Victoria, Minnesota, Stacey (Tim) Kopiczko of Lisle, Illinois, and Tammy (Eric) Koz of Joliet, Illinois, and step-great-grandmother to Zoe and Faith Koz of Joliet, Illinois, and Kate Kopiczko of Lisle, Illinois. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her Sun City Bingo Buddies. Private services will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Sun City, Arizona. Donations are suggested to Hospice Family Care, 9045 W. Georgia A. Murphy

Georgia Murphy ascended to heaven on March 22 at the age of 83. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a woman of great strength and courage, while always extending kindness and understanding to those around her.

She was born in Carrizo Spring, Texas, July 14, 1926. She moved to Arizona with her family in 1932, residing in Phoenix, Tolleson and Glendale. She graduated from Glendale High School in 1944 and worked at the Glendale Pharmacy during the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s. In 1965 she joined the City of Glendale working in the City Manager’s Office. She loved her job!

In 1973 her husband Bo Murphy preceded her in death. In her later years, she loved spending time with all of her cousins and long time friend Elberta White. She also enjoyed watching sports on her big screen TV.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Susan, Patricia and Karen who was her best friend and caregiver. Karen was blessed to have her as a friend and mother. She will be greatly missed but she is at last Home. I love you Mom – I will miss your green eyes. Her grandchildren Tracy, Robynn, Courtney, Shannon and Joel – She loved you! Georgia was also a great-grandmother of 9.

Paul M. Siron

Paul Marvin Siron, born July 2, 1928 in Lexington, IL, passed away March 22, 2010, in Sun City, AZ. He moved to Sun City West in 1997 from Joliet, IL, where he had been an educator for 35 years at Joliet Central High School. A Korean War veteran, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a gifted athlete and avid sports fan, playing minor league baseball, and coaching basketball for Joliet Junior College. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with friends at the Moose in Peoria, AZ. A widower since 1996, he is survived by three daughters, three grandchildren and one sister.

David has gone to a better place to be with the Lord and his brother Danny. Virginia was born on October 24, 1922 in Hillsboro, Ill. to William and Edna Rogers. She married Thomas L. Bowley, Sr. on July 26, 1940 and together they had three children, Thomas L. Bowley, Jr. (Beverly), Roger M. Bowley (Kate), and Michele D. Hazzard (Richard). Virginia was a proud of her five grand children and numerous great grandchildren. She was happily married to Harold P. Lundberg for eleven years.
Lifetime activities include Cradle Roll First Methodist Church of Glendale; Cub Scout Den Mother; member of Glendale Order of Eastern Star; Rainbow Girls Advisory Board, eight years; Goodwill Auxiliary, five years; President of Glendale Garden Club, two years; Owner of Crystal Cupboard, fifteen years; Meals-on-Wheels for Sun City, five years; a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution; and, a member of Bellevue Heights Church, Sun City.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Bellevue Heights Baptist Church, 9440 W. Hutton Dr., Sun City, AZ.

John B. Lupton 87, of Sun City, AZ passed away March 14, 2010. John was a well respected retired school teacher who was loved by his students and peers. He was a lovely caring friend. His smile kindness and wonderful sense of humor will be dearly missed by everyone whose life he touched. He is survived by his wife Marjorie, brother Dale of Seymour, IN, Sister in laws Lois Fairbanks (Roger), and Patricia Uhl, Cousins Marge Wonacott, Jean Ritchey, Virginia Wegman (Bill) and many nieces and nephews.

Angeline Salem Brooks, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend born August 31st, 1914, in Lansing Michigan, went to the lord on March 5, 2010.
Angeline came to Arizona in 1933 to marry grocer and businessman Edward Salem of Douglas, Arizona. She spent her life in Douglas in close relationships with children, in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends. Angeline was preceded in death by her mother Victoria and father Norman Hanna. Angeline is the last of the In-laws who were like brothers and sisters. They include the families of Alyce and Ray Borane and Ramona and Edward Sawaya. Angeline was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church and contributed much to her church community. In later years, Angeline lived in Phoenix, Nogales and Detroit. Her life was filled with tending to her children and family. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle enthusiast and creatively crocheted many afghans for family and friends. Her family was frequently blessed with the essence of her excellent Lebanese cooking. Everyone called her, “Sito.” If they heard she was cooking, the house would fill with her adoring loved ones. Sito was dedicated to the rosary and her whispers of prayer in the night was a comfort to all. Angeline worked in the insurance industry as an office manager and enjoyed time spent with fellow employees. Her long, productive life leaves footprints on countless hearts. Her generosity to anyone in need was limitless. All were welcome at the Salem family home in Douglas. Seldom was the house void of family or friend. Angeline was a family icon and her presence will always be with us.
Angeline is survived by 5 devoted children. Ralph (Debbie) of Maricopa, AZ, Edward John Sr. (Jo Ann) of Peoria, AZ, Carol Ann Rivas of Phoenix, AZ., Mark Salem (Ranae) Tempe, AZ and Melinda Jackson of Cottonwood, AZ. Also Shirley Salem, Phoenix, AZ. Grandchildren include, Ralph Salem (Sueanne), Christopher Salem, Cathy Pulickal (Lionel), Mike Rose (Teri), Angela Jablonski (Tim), Edward John Salem, Jr., Michelle Contreras (Mike), Timothy Salem , Mario Gregory (Kim), Michael Gregory (Jacque), Teri Gregory, Mark Rivas, Ranee Rivas, Allison Salem, Alan Salem (Heather), Andi Salem, Joe Mulcaire (Rachel), Heather Mulcaire (Chris Williamson), Heidi Monday (Beale), and KW Mulcaire. Angeline had 33 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She has many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her and always were an important part of her long, happy life.
