Barbara J. Mantis of Sun City, AZ died August 29, 2010. She was born August 4, 1927 in Detroit, MI to the late Jean & Walter Mantis. She was a graduate of St. Mary of the Woods College and retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Co. She is survived by her friend of many years, Sandra C. Bloss and several cousins. No services will be held. Burial to be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, MI.

Howard Graham Bell Jr.

Howard (Bud) G. Bell, Jr., of Peoria, AZ, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010.
Bud was born in Los Angeles, CA on December 5, 1931. He was raised in San Diego, CA and lived there until he joined the U.S. Navy in March 1951. After his discharge in March 1955, he went to Santa Monica City College and then went to work for IBM until his retirement in June 1991. During his retirement, he lived in Peoria, AZ.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia, two sons, Stephen (Elizabeth) and Scott (Cady), and four grandchildren, Joshua, Sophie, Justina, and Christopher.
Private internment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery and Mausoleum, Santa Monica, CA.
Donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York 10016.

Of Sun City West, AZ
Passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the age of 84.
Beloved husband of Ramona for the last ten years, and predeceased by his first wife Margaret Rose(1999).
Cherished father of Penny (Alex) Connolly of Ontario, and David (Patricia) Stretz of Alberta, step-father of Patricia Ortloff and Steven Anderson of Washington. Adoring grandfather of Jennifer, Scott (Shannon), Nicole, and Joel, step-grandfather of Michael, Travis, and Krista, and step-great-grandfather of Taylor.
Peter immigrated to Canada from Russe Bulgaria in 1948. He proudly served twenty years in the Canadian Armed Forces retiring as a Warrant Officer. He was employed for seventeen years with Opsco Industries. He became a Permanant Resident of the United States in 2002, splitting his time between Arizona and Alberta.
A Celebration of Peter’s Life has been held with arrangements entrusted to Menke Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Sun Valley Animal Shelter (www.sunvalleypets.org) would be appreciated.

Richard J. Nemec
Born May 17, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of James and Theresa Nemec. He moved to Arizona in 1974 and worked for Griffith Laboratories for 11 years, as the Mechanical Division Manager. He later was a real estate agent for 12 years here in the valley. He leaves behind his life partner Susan Waldo. Two daughters: Judith Mazur of Phoenix, and Joy (Mark) Srodawa of Glendale. Four grandchildren: Nicholina Mazur and Charles Mazur of Phoenix and Cody Srodawa and Brandi Srodawa of Glendale. A brother Jerry Nemec preceded him in death. Cremation is being handled by Menke Funeral Home of Sun City with no services. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held at his home at a later date.

Marie Bradshaw, born in 1925, in Minneapolis, MN, entered into peace and rest on August 26, 2010. Preceding her in death are her husband, Roy S. Bradshaw, daughter, Laurona Conduff, her parents, John and Cecilia Mansur, and her sister, Charlotte Smith.

She is survived by her children, Darrell, Cecilia, Risë, Roy and Lewis, 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Robert Mansur.

Visitation 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 30th, at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City. Graveside service, 12:30 p.m., at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road., Phoenix.

Raymond Chiaro
91 of Sun City, AZ passed away peacefully on August 25, 2010 due to complications of a heart attack. He is survived by his wife Anne of 46 years, his children, grandchildren and extended family. Born August 23, 1919 in Chicago, IL. He served in US 5th Army Air Corps, where he earned the rank of Staff Sargent. During his early years, he was an entrepreneur in the pizza business, and later moved on to win the “Best Salesman Award” in the retail furniture business, which earned him the nickname “Writing Ray” because of his success in the writing of so many invoices. He was a volunteer for Braille and coffee hour at the Fountain of Life Lutheran Church. He will be dearly missed and was loved by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, 15630 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ.

John M. Gibson

John M. Gibson – Feb. 6, 1923 – Aug. 24, 2010.
Born in Perth, Ontario, Canada to parents James & Martha Irene (Chaplin) Gibson. He was preceded by parents, and brother Alfred Gibson. Also preceded by wife Elenore mother of his surviving children, Kathleen (Gibson) Oster & husband Lorne and David Gibson & wife Beverly. 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren survive as well as extended family of Loretta, Jacque, Jay, Betsy & Jim Legan, Johnny, Janelle, Jamie and many friends. He married June (Shur) Gibson who preceded him in 2000. After being a widower for 10 years, he married Margaret L. Legan on Sept. 9, 2009 who survives him. John worked for Apex Broach Manufacturing Co for 30 years in Michigan retiring to Sun City with June in 1983. John was active in many organizations and was a volunteer Red Cross van driver for 15 years and a 12 year volunteer with the Peoria Community Center. He was a WW II U.S. Army veteran. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ.

Margaret Poston, 85, of Sun City, AZ passed away August 20, 2010. She was born March 6, 1925 in Jellico, Tennessee. Margaret moved to Sun City in 1994 from Kentucky where she was a member of the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in White Plains. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Paul in 2006. Survivors include daughters, Linda Poston, Paulette Davis (Danny), Vanessa McElroy and Valerie Morgan (Trevor); sister Inez Nancy Whiteley (Burlin); grandchildren Duke, Grant & Hope Davis and Francheska & Brittany McElroy and 1 great grandson Duke Anthony Davis II. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Interment to follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

A retired office manager, she moved to Sun City in 1991 and was active at the Oakmont Ceramics Club. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Walter; daughter Karen Flatoff (Michael); sons Lawrence (Sandi), Norman (Teresa) and Greggory (Kimberly); sister Lucy Gearhart; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Robert B. Peterson, 85, of Sun City, AZ passed away August 16, 2010. Robert was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois and served his country in the US Navy. A retired salesman, he moved to Sun City in 2000 from California. He was a member of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church where he was also and usher, Elks Lodge and a Sun City line dance. He is survived by his wife Rose Mary; children Robert Peterson, Vernelle Perkins and Janet Herring. 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also survive. A Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave. in Sun City. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2010 at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Rowland Heights, California.
