Dolores, 81, formerly of Sun City, AZ, passed away peacefully in Houston, TX on December 20th with her son and daughter-in-law at her side. She is preceded in death by her adoring husband Jack and son Paul. They raised five children, Marion Renner (Bob), Paul, Marcia Casby, Kelly Casby (Chris) and Mary Kropp (Howard). Our mother epitomized the love and devotion we all dream to find in a mother and she will be greatly missed. People were attracted to her joyful and loving spirit and she shared her sunshine with everyone she met. Grandchildren include Carolyn, Michelle, Adam, Alex, Matthew and Jacqueline. Visitation and Rosary will be 2-4 p.m., Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 9728 W. Palmeras Dr., Sun City, AZ. Interment to follow at Sunland Memorial Park.

Adam Troy Cooley, 34, of Surprise, AZ passed away Dec. 27, 2010. Born in Phoenix, AZ. He graduated from Centennial High School in 1994. He played football at GCC and ASU for 1 year. A High Tech Institute graduate. He was a member of the Dodge RT Club and 2 time first place winner of the RT Nationals. Survived by mother Lynda and step-father Hal Borhauer; brother Terry Cooley; sisters Sherry Cooley and Janine Rodriguez and grandparents Harold & Ida Borhauer. He loved his dog Reyna. Visitation will be Noon-3:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Adams Life at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 13001 N. 35th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85029. John M. Airy

John M. Airy passed away Dec. 24, 2010 in Sun City, AZ. He was born in Lucas County, Iowa on Feb. 17, 1915. He attended a one room country school, followed by high school in nearby Derby. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agronomy from Iowa State University in 1938, graduating in the top 5 percent of his class. He soon joined Pioneer Hi-Bred International where he developed a strong hybrid seed corn research program. He was a early adopter and promoter of sound agronomic practices to improve production. Mr. Airy developed a beef program based on the notion that selective breeding can improve productivity. He began acquiring superior animals from private herds. While looking at a Hereford herd in Marshall County, he became interested in the farm itself. Both the herd and the farm were purchased. The Pioneer beef research program was housed here until 1973, when the farm was transferred to Iowa State University. John M. Airy – an innovator, a leader. Survivors include his three children, Dean Airy (Jan) of Marion, IA, Joan Patrick (Curtis) of Henderson, NV, Darlene “Dot” Stermole (Frank) of Golden CO; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at The Woodmark, 17207 N. Bernadette “Dede” Vanyo Wathey

Bernadette “Dede” Vanyo Wathey, 49, passed away December 26, 2010, at home with her family in Phoenix. She was a beautiful lady, wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She battled pancreatic cancer with courage and trusted in God’s plan for her life. She will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, a fun-loving attitude and a magnetic personality. Professionally, she was known for the great work she did in the media and advertising business. She leaves behind her loving husband, Drew, and her two beautiful children, Kevin and Lauren. Her mother Janie Vanyo, sister Nancy Vanyo Etchart and brother Dooley Vanyo and beloved nieces and nephew also survive her. Dede will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at Desert Springs Bible Church Thursday, December 30th at 11am located at 16215 N. Tatum Blvd., Phx.

Avis Juanita Bennett went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 10, 2010 in Sun City, Arizona. Avis was preceded in death by her parents, Mathilda and Vinton Hutson; her husband Russell G Bennett; her son Russell E. Bennett; and her two sisters, Phyllis Fort and Aurora Brooks. Avis is survived by one brother, Ivan Hutson of Dana Point, California; her son, Larry J. Bennett; 2 daughters-in-law, Mischael D. Bennett and Joy D. Bennett; and 5 grandchildren and 9 great grand children.
A special Memorial Concert in her honor will be held on Saturday, January 08, 2011 at 4:00 PM at the Sun City Christian Church, 9745 W. Palmeras Avenue, Sun City, Arizona. This concert will feature many of Avis’ family members and will contain songs that Avis loved. The family suggest in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sun City Christian Church Avis Bennett Memorial Fund.

Emily Novoselac-Krajacic, 89, of Sun City passed away Dec. 25, 2010. Emily was born in Yugoslavia. An Arizona resident for 37 years from Cleveland, OH, she was a homemaker. She is survived by her sons, Charles (Vicky) Novoselac, John (Jan Alice) Novoselac and Mike (Carol) Novoselac; grandsons Jim, John and Michael; great grandchildren, Brendan, Jacob and Cameron. 71, of Glendale, AZ passed away Dec. 13, 2010. Miguel was born in Glendale and worked for Sterling Meats for 46 years. He is survived by his children, Michael R. Monge (Donna) and Michelle Nelson (Barry); sisters Esther Monge and Cruz Moreno; grandchildren Joshua Monge, Andrea Sralik Ortega, Michael Sralik, Angelina Sralik, Susana Sralik and Amber Nelson; many nieces and nephews also survive. Miguel was preceded in death by sisters Annie Bezuch and Nellie Ortega. Carol J. Bodenstedt went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 20, 2010, surrounded by love, in the arms of her family and friends. Carol was born in 1944 in Toledo, Ohio. A loving wife, dedicated mother, and exceptional friend to all. Her effervescent personality and positive outlook on life was contagious. She is survived and tremendously loved by her husband Harlin, and her children Stacy and Scott, brother Howard Cook, sisters Sparkle Cooley, Alice Hollingshead, Muriel Klooster, Peggy Noble, and “the kennel crew” (dogs) Buster, Maggie, Abby, Molly, Chloe, and Bailey. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Bertha and Charles Cook and brother Chuck Cook. Carol was a devoted wife and shared many special times with her family helping to run a local family business that opened in 1934. Throughout the years, she also spent time volunteering for various organizations including church, her children’s classrooms, sports, clubs, and her daughter’s sorority at Northern Arizona University, Alpha Omicron Pi. Many people described Carol as one with a strong personality, loved talking and meeting people throughout the world, and also enjoyed spending much quality time with her family. She made a difference in so many peoples’ lives on earth, and will continue to do so in heaven. We love you mom always and forever!
Public visitation will be Monday, December 27, 2010, from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 North 103rd Avenue, Sun City, AZ. Graveside service will be private.

Bernard passed away from a stroke on December 22, 2010, in Peoria, AZ. He was born in St. Joseph, MN on December 28th, 1922 to Mathilda and Nickolas Jost. Because of a snow storm, his birth wasn’t recorded until Dec. 30th. Before he married Ronilda Schreifels in 1946, Bernie served in the Navy during WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient. He worked hard to acquire an education and finally achieved degrees in manufacturing and industrial engineering. He enjoyed playing harmonica, lapidary, fishing, reading, playing cards, and traveling America by RV with his wife, Ronnie.
Bernie was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, his parents, and eight of his siblings. He is survived by his children: Carol Shepardson of Orlando, FL, Donna (Dan) Flaherty of Deer River, MN & Sun City, AZ, Byron (Mary) Jost of Mankato, MN, Douglas (Joanie) Jost of Centerville, MN, Karen (Steve) Brown of Rhinelander, WI, Kevin (Tina) Jost of Chanhassen, MN, and Diane Jost of Peoria, AZ; his 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and his siblings: Reggie Lenarz, Rita Kruise, Dick Jost, Evelyn Kiffmeyer, and Mary Jane Koep.
A memorial service will be held at Epiphany Catholic Church, 11001 Hanson Blvd, Coon Rapids, MN 55433 on January 8, 2011 at 11am. Inurnment will be in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix on January 14, 2011 at 1:30pm.

Pauline Valentine-Fugate went to be with the Lord on Dec. 11, 2010. She was 94 years old. She passed peacefully at home with some family members with her. Born in Kansas, and moved to Glendale, AZ in 1950. A graveside service will be held for her at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, AZ.
