Posted By Menke Funeral & Cremation Center On December 5, 2017 @ 10:28 am In Obituary | 4 Comments

The last member of the John and Pearl Newman family has died. Joe was born on July 24, 1930, and died November 23, 2017 at age 87. His death was due to Alzheimer’s and heart disease.

On May 16, 1953, he married Darleen Burkart in Stratford, WI on his return from the Korean War service.

During the 64 years of marriage, they had 5 children. Kay Franklin (Jaye) of Marshfield, WI, Denise Grancorvitz (Rick) of Carrollton, TX, Dan (Raina) of Matthews, NC, Bruce (Ann) of Mesa, AZ and Neal (Maggie) of Scottsdale, AZ. He has 11 grandchildren (1 deceased) and 11 great-grandchildren.

Joe began Edgar Motor Service in Edgar, WI in 1957 where he repaired and painted cars and trucks until 1976. He then worked for Central Wisconsin Hay and Trucking until 1985 when he retired due to disability. He moved to Sun City, AZ in 1986. He enjoyed doing wood working in any form especially making his wooden toys. He also remodeled several homes in Sun City.

His happiness came from spending time with his family – children and grandchildren. Each year was spent visiting family and he tried to have a lot of family get-togethers. He liked visiting places of interest in AZ and sharing them with visitors.

Joe was preceded in death by one grandson, his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.

The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. Burial will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ.
