Lydia O. Muir

Lydia O. Muir, 86, went to join her Heavenly Father on March 28, 2010, Palm Sunday, at Baptist Village, Youngtown, Arizona. Lydia was born February 12, 1924 in Jackson, Minnesota to John N. and Jonette Hamland Sogge. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1941, attended college at St. Cloud and was a country school teacher. In later years she was employed at First National Bank.
Lydia married David V. Muir in 1944 and after WWII they made their home in Jackson, Minnesota, where David and Max Hibma operated M&H Electric Contracting Co., for 30 years.
The Muirs retired to Sun City, Arizona in 1979 and joined the American Lutheran Church where they sang in the choir for 25 years. Lydia was a member of the Society of Childrens Bookwriters, The Arizona Authors Society, and wrote several books. She also enjoyed painting in oils. In 2005 Lydia and David moved to Baptist Village in Youngtown, Arizona.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband David in 2008, her parents, her sisters Lottie (Arley) Utlaut, Clara (Lester) Nyborg, Ina (Bert) Mellum, Nora (Randolph) Gravell, Hilda (Henry) Furst, a brother Leo Sogge, and a grandson Matthew Sharar.
She is survived by three daughters, Ellen (Herman) Vandestraat, Susan Muir, and Carla (Roland) Shearer, four grandchildren, Enoch (Olga) Borozinski, Sarah (Mason) Hess, Lindsey and Robert Shearer and four great grandchildren Ethan and Ava Hess and Vance and Maxeem Borozinski. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Friends may visit the family from 12:00–1:00 pm at the American Lutheran Church in Sun City, Arizona with Memorial Services to follow at 1:00 pm. Her grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Jackson, Minnesota
