Van, the beloved husband of Betty, passed away at Hospice Family Care Center in Peoria, AZ on April 20, 2009. He was born June 17, 1920 in Council Grove, Kansas. He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and two sisters. Van was a WWII veteran. He also spent time traveling with his trumpet. Singing and playing for various Big Band-era orchestras. After returning to Council Grove, Van owned an auto insurance company. He moved to the southwest in the early 60′s and settled in Phoenix in 1964. He spent many years in the title and life insurance business. Van was a generous, kind and loving man to his many friends and family members. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty, two daughters and son-in-laws, 5 grandchildren 4 great grandchildren, 1 brother, 1 sister and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service’s are to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Van’s memory to Hospice Family Care, 9045 W. Athens Street, Peoria, AZ 85382. Arrangements have been entrusted to Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave. Sun City, AZ 85351
