I served under Bill in the USN. We were stationed with VP-23 out of Brunswick, Maine. It was 1975 or 76. I believe Bill purchased his first house to renovate in Brunswick. I remember he needed money to renovate, and asked if I would be interested in renting a room from him, which I did. The extra income allowed him to work on the house which he really loved. A couple years later I got shipped out of Brunswick, and was discharged a few years thereafter. I went back home to Buffalo, NY. I remember getting a phone call from Bill in the late seventies. He told me that he recently got discharged from the Navy, and would be in Buffalo in a couple of days. We got together and talked. He was on his way to Chicago. I asked, what are going to do with your life now? He said, I going to relist in the Navy. That was the last time I spoke with Bill. Bill was truly a sailor at heart, a fine man, and will be missed. My condolences to his family.

Bill visited us in Peru thirty-five years ago. Never heard from him since then except via email recently. The world has lost a fine man.

Bill and I grew up in the same neighborhood in Elmhurst and were classmates in school, first at Yorkfield Elementary, then at Jr High and then at York HS. I am very saddened to learn of his death. Wish I had known about it sooner because I live in Peoria AZ and could have attended the service. My condolences to his family.
