Gerthel Popoff

Popoff, Gerthel September 18, 1924 July 2, 2009. Gerthel Popoff born in Indiana on September 18, 1924, moved to Tempe, AZ in 1936 at age 8 with her parents and siblings. She met her beloved Alex Popoff, Sr. and it was love at first sight, they married shortly after and had 3 girls and twin boys. She enjoyed church and life to the fullest. Gerthel leaves behind her children Carol Walter Duke, Vera Merril Schutt, Grace Popoff, Alex Popoff, Jr. and James Peggy Popoff. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; sisters Lillian June King, Pauline George Henry and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerthel is preceded in death by her beloved husband Alex Popoff, Sr. and other family members. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Burial will follow at the Russian Molokan Cemetery in Glendale, AZ.
