Helen Sandi

Helen Sandi passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at the Woodmark Nursing Home in Sun City, AZ. The daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Irimie, Helen was bon in Alliance, Ohio, on April 8, 1919, and attended Alliance High School. There, in 1940, she married Jacob Sandi, her husband for 48 years, until his passing in 1988. She was active in the Romanian Church in Alliance and the Order of the Eastern Star. Helen was also an outstanding cook, seamstress and homemaker. In 1975, they relocated to Sun City, Arizona, where they joined the United Church of Sun City. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Handy; 2 grandchildren, Corey Anderson MD, Lori Anderson DDS; 2 great grandchildren, Gavin and Summer; her 2 sisters-in-law, Ann Popa and Mary Ann Irimie; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Duane Kennedy, her companion for 12 years. A son, John Jacob Sandi, preceded her in death, along with sisters, Mildred Fallo and Jennie Negulici; and brothers, George Irimie and Dan Irimie. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011, graveside, at 1pm at Sunland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the United Church of Sun City, 11250 North 107th Avenue, Sun City, Arizona 85351.
