Philomena Stephens

Philomena Stephens died at her home in Sun City West on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Philomena was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Stephens. Philomena lived in Sun City West for over 20 years and was a proud member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Philomena was born in Bailieborough, County Cavan, Ireland and emigrated to Chicago, Illinois as a teenager. Philomena worked for Richard Daley, the former Mayor of Chicago, before her retirement to Arizona with her late husband Edward. Two of Philomena’s sisters, Katie and Mary Ellen, and her one brother, Peter, preceded her in death. She has one surviving sister, Anna Buckley of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces in the U.S. and Ireland from both her and her late husband’s family. A wake will be held for Philomena on Sunday, February 23, 2014, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with Rosary at 4:00 p.m. at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 19002 N. 128th Ave., Sun City West, AZ. Friends and relatives are invited to attend both services.
