Austin Louis Fontenot, born on November 7, 1947, in Port Arthur, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Sun City, Arizona. He was 78 years old.

Austin’s journey from his early days in Port Arthur was marked by unwavering character, warmth, and a sense of purpose that touched the lives of all who knew him. The values instilled in him by his beloved parents, Pauline and Austin Fontenot Sr., served as his compass throughout his life. Though both have preceded him in death, along with his brother Kenneth Lentschke, their memories remained close to Austin’s heart and continued to inspire his actions.

Austin shared his life with his devoted wife, Trudi Fontenot, whose companionship and love stood as the foundation for many cherished moments throughout their years together. He also is survived by his sister, Betty Stark, who remained thankful for all his support through all of life's chapters, as well as his caring niece and nephew who enriched his life in countless ways. 

Known for his sincerity and kindness and good sense of humor, Austin naturally formed strong connections with those around him. He was a trustworthy confidant, a loving family member, and a steadfast friend. His presence will be missed dearly by those who had the fortune to know him, whether as a member of the Fontenot family, a friend, or part of the wider community.

Austin Louis Fontenot’s legacy is one of dignity, affection, and enduring strength. He will be lovingly remembered for his admirable qualities, his dedication to family, and the immeasurable positivity he brought into the world. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of his family and everyone he touched.
