Bernard Gerard III

Bernard Frederick Gerard III passed away peacefully at his home, with his loving wife at his side in Sun City, AZ on December 13, 2020. He is survived by his devoted wife of 15 years Pauline (nee Kohler), his sister Marilyn (the late Donald) Nelson, son Bernard IV (Kathy), daughter Julie (Raymond) Le Pine, grandchildren Bill (Kathryn) Le Pine, Jacqui Hobday and Patrick Gerard, 5 great grandchildren: Dylan, Lana, Kayla, Liam, Jacob, several nieces and nephews and a dear friend to many. Bernie was preceded in death by his son William. Bernie was born on April 16, 1930 and raised in River Forest by his parents Bernie Jr. (former River Forest Police Chief) and Fern. He attended St. John’s Military Academy in Delafield, WI. After high school, he served with distinction in both the Navy and Marine Corps and later as a proud member of the River Forest Fire Department for 25 years. He was also an active member of the Masonic Society Shriners for many years. Bernie had a joy of life and lived life to the fullest.
