Craig McCoy, a dedicated family man, former Marine and railroader, passed away on April 14, 2024.  Craig leaves behind his wife Mary Lou, and daughters Carrie, Carla and Dina, and six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  Craig was born on April 28, 1939, in Grand Junction, Colorado.  What would become a career that spanned more than four decades, Craig’s work with the railroad began in 1955 while he was still in High School when he joined the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad as a summer and winter break laborer.  From 1961 to 1964, Craig took a break from his work with the railroad while he proudly served in the United States Marine Corp.

Upon separation from the Marines, Craig returned to the railroad where he would work for the next 40 years.  Craig's work ethic and commitment were evident, earning him respect among his peers. During his career with the railroad, Craig worked as a switchman, fireman, conductor, and eventually engineer.

Beyond his career achievements, Craig was a devoted family man. He shared 63 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Lou (Justice) McCoy, together they raised three daughters: Carrie, Carla, and Dina. Craig's love and support were steadfast, and he took immense pride in his daughters.

Craig will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his friends and family.  Craig was an avid golfer, bowler, and talented artist and musician.  Craig will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
