Obituary

Forrest R. Briesch, 92 of Sun City, AZ a Catholic ordained permanent deacon, entered his eternal rest on November 14, 2025. He was born on April 1933, the youngest of 10 children to parents Frederick & Margaret Briesch in Rock Island, Ill. He attended and graduated from Holy Ghost Mission Preparatory High School in East Troy, WI., and Brown Mackie Business College in Salina, KS. He is a US Air Force Korean War Veteran. After his military service he worked for 8 years for 3 CPA firms, then for 17 years with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. as an auditor and accounting manager.

He was ordained a permanent Deacon in the Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta GA., on May 31, 1980, by Archbishop Thomas A. Donnellan. He worked in ministry at Transfiguration Catholic Parish in Sun City for ministry and as parish Business Administrator for 30 years until his retirement in March 2009. In July 2009 he retired from all diaconal ministries. In 2010 he received the freedom and permission to remarry from Pope Benedict XVI to his wife Marie.

He is preceded in death by his wife Marie, his parents, brothers, sisters, 1st wife Kathryn of 48 years, 3 sons, Frederick, Timothy & Richard Briesch. He is survived by his nephew, Bill (Kayla) Briesch and family; 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, numerous other nieces, nephews, from both his previous marriages.

Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, preceded by a 1 hour viewing in Sun City, AZ. Burial will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations instead be made in memory of Deacon Forrest Briesch to St. Vincent de Paul Society, at St Elizabeth Seton Parish or to the Food for the Poor Inc., 550 SW 12th Ave, Deerfield Beach, FL 33442-9855.
