Bud (Delmar) Phillips, passed away on September 21, 2024 at 7:51am in his home surrounded by his daughter, Amy Phillips Munoz, son, Joseph Charles Phillips, granddaughters, Madelyn Claire Munoz, Ann Marie Phillips, grandson, Donny Antonio Munoz, his brother, Charles Phillips and wife Fay from Jefferson City, Missouri, and his wife of 52 years Linda Phillips. His brother Dan Phillips and wife Karen from Rockville, Indiana and The Villages Florida arrived shortly after.
Having battled 5 different cancers for the past 7 years, winning against each, he said this last one "was gonna get him." His positive outlook, kindness, and good nature never wavered even in the face of the inevitable.
Bud had a long career with Bridgestone/Firestone for 33 years throughout Indiana and Rockford, Illinois until he decided he was coming to Arizona in 1987 and then ran various stores for Firestone in Arizona. Twenty-two years ago he retired and opened his own automotive and tire store, named it Coyote Tire & Automotive and his son Joseph learned the business and is now running it for his dad.
Bud was a great guitarist and singer and worked with various bands in the Chicago area including the Ides and March and The First Edition. He formed his own band in 1967 and preformed throughout Indiana. He and his wife Linda met in 1967 and married in 1972 and with the commonality of music, as she too was a singer and musician, lasted for 52 years. In 1977, they pooled their resources and had a very successful band that preformed throughout Illinois and Wisconsin until 1987 when they moved to Arizona. Wanting to spend more time with the children, they elected to become involved in the choir at church as music was in their blood and did so until 2013.
He was a musician, singer, businessman, devoted husband, great dad, super grandpa.....a one in a million guy. All the beautiful notes coming in through Facebook, business associates, and corporations he did business with have one consistent theme...he was the kindest, most honest, patient, generous and sincere person they had ever known. He created a legacy of that one in a million person.
Bud leaves behind 3 older sisters living in Indiana; two younger brothers; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
