Diane R. Anders (Watson), wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, joined her beloved husband, Vern, who preceded her in death.

Born in Pennsylvania, Diane spent much of her early life in Ohio, where she attended Lake Erie College and majored in the sciences—an uncommon path for women at the time. After college, she met and married the love of her life, Vern, beginning a love story that would last more than 63 years. The couple settled in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where they began their family.

Their shared love of the Southwest brought them to Arizona in 1969. While raising her family, Diane pursued a variety of jobs, working in the medical field, teaching, real estate and retail.

Diane was an avid bowler in her younger years and later enjoyed cross-stitching, gardening and the couple’s monthly bridge group with longtime friends. After Vern retired, the two remained active together, making and selling crafts and later working for their beloved Arizona Diamondbacks through the Diamond backers frequent fan program.

Above all, Diane was a devoted and attentive grandmother who could always be counted on to be there—at sporting events, club activities, awards ceremonies and the many milestones in her grandchildren’s lives. She took particular joy in making holidays special for her family. No family holiday was quite complete without Grandma’s potatoes, sticky buns or nuts and bolts.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Vern, and her sisters, Carol and Susan. She is survived by her children, Karen, Scott (Lora) and Robert (Carrie); thirteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren plus one on the way.

She leaves behind a family shaped by the love, traditions and memories she created throughout her life, and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
