Dorothea Giza

February 28, 1933 — January 12, 2021

Born February 28, 1933 in Worcester, MA Married Deacon Stan M. Giza June 27, 1953 Four children: Michael (Skip) Giza (deceased) and his wife Sally, of Massachusetts, Stanley (Bud) Giza and his wife Pam, of California: Cindi Croley Dot and her husband Patrick of Arizona; Debra Giza of Massachusetts. Dot and Stan have 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. After raising their children in Massachusetts, Dot and Stan moved to Arizona in 1986, finding and continuing with their love for each other by continuing to celebrate music, literature, and poetry, while exploring the arts including crafts, pottery, ceramics, drawing, gardening and Arizona. Dot was active in many of the aspects of the Sun City Recreational Center. Her latest passion being beating the pants off of Stan at the pool table. Dot was secretary at St. Joseph’s in Phoenix, and later at Our Lady of Lourdes in Sun City West for Fr. Minogue. Dot was a musician since an early age with her father, and continued that passion throughout her life: accordion, guitar, ukulele, and piano. Dot and her daughter, Cindi, played the guitar at St. Roch’s church for the stations on Good Fridays. Before traveling cross country together, Dot was active in the town of Oxford, Massachusetts, planting cherry and blue spruce trees along the main street, Librarian at the local high school and Library, along with being Director of the Oxford Housing Authority. She and Stan formed the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard and Dot designed their flag. Spiritually, Dot brought her love of music to the local church by creating, directing, and singing in the senior choir and folk group. Dot inspired a children’s choir of 22 children, at the church of St. Roch’s in Oxford, Massachusetts, where Deacon Stan started his Diaconate. Dot went home peacefully, at home, holding Stan’s hand, January 12, 2021. Wake service will be held at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, on Friday, January 15th, from 1-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be given in gratitude to Hospice of the Valley…for team V.
