Elizabeth Silverthorn

Elizabeth Jane Silverthorn, or Janey, as her friends and family called her, passed away on Sept. 13, 2019, with her husband ,Mike, at her side. She was born and raised in Canton, Ohio by her aunt and uncle, Vida and Carl Goerke. She graduated from Canton McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio, where she enjoyed playing the clarinet in the marching band. She married her husband on April 21, 1960, and raised 5 children with him. She worked in several nursing facilities, and for many years owned and worked at the College Hill Motel with her husband. Mike and Jane were fortunate enough to raise their children in Mineral City, Ohio on a 5 acre farm, where there was plenty of room for a big garden, as well as an orchard for canning jellies and baking pies. Janey loved her husband and loved her family with all her heart, and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed going to the casino with her husband and going out to eat. Janey is survived by her husband of 59 years Frederick “Mike” Silverthorn ; daughter Monica Silverthorn; son Michael Silverthorn (Pattie); daughter Christine Silverthorn; daughter Rebecca Silverthorn; son David Silverthorn; brother Art Goerke and grandchildren Tyler Silverthorn, Spencer Silverthorn, Elizabeth Silverthorn and Joey Silverthorn. Viewing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19th, 2019 from 8:30 am - 9:30 am at Menke Funeral Home. Mass will follow at 10:00 am at St. Joachim and St. Anne Catholic Church in Sun City, AZ. She will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
