Obituary

George E. Vickerman was born June 28, 1937 in Flint, Michigan to Emma and Clarence Vickerman. He had two siblings, Janet Richardson and Chuck Vickerman (Sandy).

George joined the U S. Air Force right out of high school and was an Airman 2nd Class. He studied Russian language at Syracuse University and was a Russian Interpreter in Turkey. That was indeed impressive! He was a very smart man.

He graduated from Michigan University and went on to UCLA in California where he obtained his Masters Degree in Physics.

George loved the California weather and decided to stay. He was a Nursing Home Administrator for many years, and taught Microsoft around the country. He was in his element. He loved computers and figuring out programs.George and Jill were married September 29, 1990 in Irvine, California, and finally settled in the beach community of San Clemente, which was perfect. Their church was right down the street and they were fortunate to travel to Israel with friends from church. It was amazing.

In 2001 George and Jill felt the Lord was leading them to move to Arizona. After searching they landed in the planned community of Anthem, Arizona, where Jill resides today.

George joined the Transportation Department at the Deer Valley Unified School District where he was in charge of routing all the school busses in the district. He was able to work until he was 84 and Jill insisted he retire!

George loved to travel, and was able to cruise to Alaska, up the East Coast when the colors changed, and Europe to name a few. Hawaii was special and he and Jill were fortunate enough to go several times.

George is survived by his wife, Jill, his 2 daughters, Anne Wykes (Jay) and Suzanne Vickerman (Robert), as well as his two step-children, Doug Howland (Shelia), and Bridget Fueller (John). Both of his daughters live in Fenton, Michigan.

George loved his family and his extended family. He had grandchildren and great grandchildren that he loved. He had a kind heart for everyone, and especially his fur babies. When Buddy went blind from Cushings and Diabetes he took him to an eye specialist and was willing to pay whatever it cost to restore his vision.

George and Jill built on to Bridget and John's home in 2022 due to both of them declining in health. George was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and it was frustrating for him. Living so close and having help was such a blessing. When Jill was hospitalized, Bridget stayed with George because he did not want to be alone. He was a true believer in Jesus and prayed every night when they went to bed. He would individually pray for all family, friends and pets. Jill would have to squeeze his hand after minutes would go by and she was drifting off. That man could pray! He will be greatly missed 💔
