Jerry was born November 6, 1943, to Gerald Reaves and Francis Lucille Damron, in Los Angeles California. He is preceded in death by his parents, His first wife, Jean, their son Jeffrey, and his sister Regina.
In 2013 he married the love of his life, Judy Nordstrom. He is survived by his wife, Judy and cousin, Mellena Kees.
He graduated from Phoenix High school, having served in the R.O.T.C. with superstar Wayne Newton.
In 1963 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was sent to a specialty school for his assignment to the Top-Secret Army Security Agency. Upon graduation, he served his time in the far northern reaches of Japan. Jerry was quite a linguist. While in Japan he taught himself to read and speak Japanese well enough to get around. He took a month leave and traveled Japan.
Upon his discharge from the Army, he worked as a printer for prestigious firms such as Price Waterhouse. He was very active in the local Jaycees.
After he moved to Phoenix he used his Army benefits to gain his Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot Licenses. He was a professional printer for thirty years. After retiring from printing, he began building and repairing computers. He opened his own computer ship in Sun City, the Desert Sun Computer Co.
Jerry loved music. He played the banjo and clarinet. His favorite artist was Frank Sinatra. He loved going to piano bars with friends and enjoying the various artists there.
Judy introduced Jerry to international travel. They went to Japan, two trips on riverboats through Europe and a cruise trip to Hawaii.
Jerry's other love was Las Vegas. He and Judy went there almost monthly for over ten years, until Covid shut everything down. He always drove and could make the trip in four hours flat! He loved to play Keno and could sit at a machine for hours, punching buttons and watching people. He did will too! Enough to have to pay taxes on his winnings several years.
He loved feeding and watching the local birds. Quail and Peach Faced Lovebirds were his favorites and they were sure of a high quality meal at his house. Jerry loved his dogs. His Basset, Samantha and the little grey poodle, Tina, were his favorites. Tina would sit between his legs on the recliner for hours while he watched TV and petted her.
