Obituary

Gordon J Wilkinson 89, of Sun City AZ, previously Mundelein IL, passed away peacefully September 26, 2024. He was born December 31, 1934 in Chicago IL, the son of Grafton and Helen McFarland Wilkinson.

Gordon loved his family, his friends and the US Marine Corps. He enlisted in his teens and spent six years serving our country, both in Korea and in the Foreign Service. After the service, he signed up with Commonwealth Edison for a successful 34-year career as Lineman, Crew Leader and Foreman keeping the power on for Lake County and the North Shore. He retired to Sun City 25 years ago and met many new friends as well as keeping coffee, lunch and golf dates with more than a dozen ComEd friends from Illinois that also retired to Sun City.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ermie Wilkinson, son Thomas  (Jeanne Perry) Wilkinson, daughter Kimberly Clark, Grandchildren Amy Wilkinson (Cesar Marron), Kristin Wood (Ben), Robert Wilkinson, Connor DePau (Bianca Vanbebber) and Makenzie Clark. Also, Great Grandchildren Anasofia Wilkinson-Marron, Gabriela Wilkinson-Marron, Olivia Wood, Ethan Wood, Caden DePau and Carter Depau.

Gordon was able to spoil two sets of grandchildren, one in Illinois, and another one in Sun City. He spent quality time with the two great grandsons in Sun City, they were a joy, and kept him young.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Thomas Charles, daughter Linda Marie and son James Edward.
