Obituary

Our beloved Harriett Jane Fortner was chosen by God to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven on April 5th, 2026. We weren’t ready to lose her but know that she is in a much better place. She lived a life filled with love, devotion, and quiet strength, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Harriett was born in Jasper Missouri, on December 15th, 1943, to Harry and Lena Tabler. In May of 1962 Harriett and Ron got married in Miami Oklahoma, and in 1963 they welcomed their only child Troy into the world. In 1968 they packed everything and moved from Kansas City Missouri and headed to sunny Phoenix Arizona where she spent the rest of her days. In 1995 she welcomed her 1st grandchild and was over the moon, and in 1998 welcomed her 2nd grandchild. Harriett was a devoted grandma, and it was one of her greatest joys. Then in 2006 she retired from the City of Scottsdale and filled her free time with her grandkids. In 2017 Harriett became the proudest person alive because she went from being a grandma to a GG, and in 2020 she welcomed her 2nd great granddaughter. Harriett loved to tell anyone and everyone about her grandkids and great grandkids.

Harriett was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and GG. She is survived by her husband, Ron Fortner; her son, Troy Fortner; her grandchildren, Katelyn Bertram and her husband Cody Bertram, and Jacob Fortner; and her great-granddaughters, Carter Bertram and Charlie Bertram, and her niece's Jean Marie and Shariss. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, sister, and many more family and friends.

Harriett will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering support for her family, and the warmth she brought into every room. She found joy in the simple moments, time spent with loved ones, laughter shared across generations, and the comfort of home.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever hold her close and carry forward the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. This is not goodbye forever, this is goodbye for now, until we meet again.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to please consider a donation to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
