Henry Brown

December 27, 1935 — August 26, 2020

On Wednesday, August 26, 2020, Henry "Hank" Brown, age 84, AZ, passed away suddenly after breaking his leg the prior week. Hank was strong, determined and feisty until the last moments. He was born in CA and had three sisters. He completed high school at St. Vincent's. He served proudly in the US Army, AG Officers Branch. He was awarded an academic scholarship and continued his schooling completing a Bachelors, Masters Degree and Doctoral studies in Education. He worked as an educator for a thirty year career. He started as a teacher, moved into administration and worked for the district office as a strategic executive in curriculum. He touched the lives of students and parents throughout the years. He was also a mentor and leader for other educators. He was dedicated and enjoyed the field of education, his passion never left the students and the sparkle in their eyes when they read or wrote a story. He always took the opportunity to teach and positively influence the life of a student. Even in retirement he provided ongoing educational advice to those who needed assistance including children of the grocery clerk, bank manager and others in his Arizona community. Hank’s delight and focus in life was helping children, all children learn. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, son Michael and daughter Kathleen. They love him and will miss him beyond words. He was a devoted husband and supportive father who loved his family unconditionally. He had a zest for life, cherished the moments, valued his friends and never missed a chance to plan a trip. He found great joy in traveling and his first choice was always a cruise! He had a sign posted in his office which read, “A Child’s right to an Education is Non-Negotiable” That sums up Hank’s philosophy of education; break every barrier and leave no stone unturned, let nothing stand in the way of reaching a child. His bar of excellence was always set high for the educators who worked for him. Nothing was ever too good for the students he served. We love you and are so grateful to have shared this journey of life with you. In lieu of flowers we prefer any memorials be made to the charity of your choice in his name.
