James Floyd Murrell, born on November 29, 1943, in Hobbs, New Mexico, peacefully passed away on November 8, 2025, at his home in Sun City, Arizona. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that touched the lives of many.
A proud veteran, James served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force. His military service was a defining part of his life, instilling in him values of dedication and resilience that he carried throughout his years.
James had a profound love for God, which guided him in all aspects of his life. He found joy in simple pleasures, particularly in the sport of golf. Every Wednesday, he could be found on the greens, enjoying the camaraderie of his friends as they shared laughs and stories.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Louise Murrell; daughter, Tina M. Sanders (Donald); stepdaughter, Teresa Doherty (Daniel); and two cherished grandchildren, Shannon L. Adams and Daniel E. Doherty, Jr., 4 great-grandchildren Hannah Adams, Calista Adams, Konner Garrett and Haleigh Garrett. James also leaves behind his brothers, Charles Murrell and Gary Don Murrell, who will carry forward his memory and the lessons he shared.
James is preceded in death by his first of 51 years wife, Wanda M. Murrell, who passed away in 2015. He also mourned the loss of his brothers, Tony and Larry Murrell, and his sister, Vida Everett.
James Floyd Murrell will be remembered not only for his contributions to his country but also for the warmth and kindness he brought to those around him. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
