John Lawrence Schmidt, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 95. He was born on January 10, 1931, in Menasha, Wisconsin.

John lived a long and hardworking life marked by service, faith, and dedication to his work. He was a high school graduate, continued with college education, and completed training as an electrical apprentice graduate. He went on to build a long career as a master electrician, working for 43 years in construction and in the newspaper industry. He later served as a security officer for the Sun City West Posse for 10 years.

John also served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954. His faith remained an important part of his life. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes and served as an altar server.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Rasmussen of Appleton, Wisconsin, as well as his nephew, Richard Rasmussen, and his niece, Luann Schommer. He will be remembered with love by his family and by those who knew him through his work, his service, and his church community.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Schmidt; his mother, Otillia Hoffman; his father, John F. Schmidt; his sister, Florence Seagers of Appleton, Wisconsin; and his brothers, Roy Schmidt of Menasha, Wisconsin, and Charles Schmidt of Appleton, Wisconsin.

John Lawrence Schmidt’s life was one of steady commitment to family, country, church, and profession. His memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
