Jose Mora, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, passed away on May 11, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Santa Paula, CA, and a longtime resident of San Jose and Morgan Hill, CA, Jose lived a life marked by love, dedication, and a deep commitment to his family and community. His vibrant personality touched the hearts of many.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Deena Mora, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Together, they raised a family that includes their three children: Emily Mora (Marcus) of Peoria, AZ, David Mora of Tampa, FL, and Gary Mora (Patty) of Castro Valley, CA. Jose took great pride in his six grandchildren—Leticia, Jessica (Shawn), Gordon, Nicholas, Conor and Jillian—and was also blessed with the joy of two great-grandchildren, Patrick and Mickey.
Jose was born into a large family, and he is survived by his brothers Cirilo, Danny, Richard, Eduardo, and his sister Camila. He held a special place in his heart for his numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cirilo and Lucy Mora, and siblings Rosalie, Rita, and Larry. These family ties nurtured his character and instilled within him values that he cherished throughout his life.
Jose proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, embodying the values of dedication and honor. After his military service, he embarked on an impressive career in Silicon Valley at Fairchild Semiconductor. Commencing his journey as a technician, Jose’s skill and commitment propelled him to the esteemed position of Director of Test Engineering. He not only excelled in his role but also played a crucial part in building teams for Fairchild Singapore, where he developed a deep appreciation for both the culture and the regional cuisine of the area. Later, he relocated to Puyallup, Washington, in anticipation of Fairchild's new plant, which would eventually be acquired by National Semiconductor.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Jose was a man of great warmth and humor. He was known for his ever-present smile and had a knack for making those around him laugh. His kindness knew no bounds, allowing him to forge friendships effortlessly, whether he was at home or traveling abroad. Jose's life was enriched by his passions, which included camping, fishing, boating, water-skiing and travel. Whether participating in camping trips with family and friends, enjoying deep-sea fishing adventures with his brothers and children or traveling the world with his wife, these moments were more than just leisure activities; they were treasured experiences that strengthened familial bonds and created lasting memories.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a committal ceremony to be held on June 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, located at 23015 Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024. Lunch will follow.
Jose Mora’s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering spirit will continue to inspire his family and friends. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
