Jose Antonio Sanchez, affectionately known as Tony, passed away on September 8 2024, in Sun City, Arizona at the age of 84. Born on June 24, 1940, in El Salvador, he made a significant impact in his community and beyond, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by his family and all those who had the honor of knowing.
Tony was not only the first Hispanic to be accepted at Johns Hopkins University but also a figure of inspiration. His educational journey culminated in earning an M.D., during which he garnered numerous awards and achievements. His dedication to the medical field and his commitment to his patients were evident throughout his career.
As a family man, Tony was known for his larger-than-life personality. He was a dependable shoulder to lean on, always putting the needs of his family first. His strict yet loving parenting shaped the lives of his children. He instilled in them the values of hard work and perseverance, leading his eldest son to follow in his footsteps by also earning an M.D. Tony's punctuality and sense of responsibility were hallmark traits that inspired all those around him.
Tony's interests included golfing and staying informed through watching the news, all of which connected him deeply with his family and friends. He was always eager to share his experiences and engage in discussions about current events, showcasing his vibrant spirit.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Roxan Vargas; his children, Jose Antonio Sanchez, Carolina Baltista Sanchez, and Gabriel Antonio Sanchez; as well as a legacy that includes the memories shared with his late son, Marco Antonio Sanchez.
A memorial gathering will be held on October 5, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, located at 12420 N 103rd Ave, Sun City, AZ 85351.
Tony will be remembered fondly for his unwavering support, his commitment to his profession, and the love he extended to every member of his family. His legacy of compassion and dedication will continue to inspire many for years to come.
