Kathryn K Crawford, 90, of Peoria, AZ passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024. Born on May 1, 1934 in Everett, Pennsylvania, she later moved to Windsor, Connecticut in 1965 and then to Arizona in 1998. Kathryn lived a rich and fulfilling life marked by devotion to her family, her work, and her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents Crist M and Marie G King: her brother Crist G King; and her beloved son Jim Crawford. She is survived by her daughter Karen Crawford of Peoria, AZ, grandson Shawn R Burner of Kirkland, Washington; sisters Elizabeth K Szolis (Jack) of Evans City, PA and Karen L Ullman (Scott) of Pittsburgh PA; loving nieces Leigh A Lewis (Keith), Kendra L Ullman, and loving nephews Craig Szolis (Rebecca) and Crist W King (Lori).
After graduating from the Western Pennsylvania School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, PA in 1957, she had a distinguished career as an RN in both public and private practice. She cared for countless individuals with compassion and professionalism. She also served for many years as an Administrative Assistant for the Northern Connecticut Ballet, where she developed lasting friendships with colleagues and artists alike. An active volunteer throughout her life, Kathryn was particularly involved in political causes that reflected her values. Dedication to her work and an ability to connect with others were hallmarks of her career.
Kathryn was an avid reader who found solace in books, and she enjoyed entertaining with dinner parties and book clubs, bowling, and playing bridge with friends. She especially loved her cats and found pleasure in spoiling her many feline pets over the years.
She will be deeply missed but not forgotten.
A private memorial will be held in her honor at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to local animal shelters or the Connecticut Concert Ballet 280 Garden Grove Rd, Manchester, Connecticut 06040 or CtConcertBallet.org.
