The Journey On Sunday, September 8, 2019 our beloved pop, grandpop, and great grandpop, KENNON SIMINGTON completed his earthly journey at his home in Glendale, AZ Born in Naples, TX on April 4, 1928 to Evelene Warren Walter and Harry Simington, he had one sister, Mary Simington and several sisters (Lula).by his father. He enlisted on April 11, 1946 in the US Army Signal Corps for the Hawaiian Dept during World War II. He served during the Korean and Vietnam War. His Military Occupation Specialty as a Microwave Technician (a special pay category) equipped him with superior knowledge and skills. His military career enabled him to travel to many parts of the world to include Germany, France, Vietnam, and Thailand. In addition to his military duties he was a superb salesman, a maître d” and an excellent cook. There were very few electrical appliances around the house he could not repair. Pop enjoyed riding motorcycles, go-cart racing and boat races, and was proud to attest that he was a thirty-third-degree mason. Pop was a man of many talents and interest. During a tour of duty in Frankfurt, Germany he met and married Erika Bauman. To this union two sons were born, Zaddie Kennon and Eric Rudolph Simington. Zaddie was born in Germany and Eric at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. At the age of six. Zaddie was returning home from kindergarten with a rose for his Godmother when he was killed by a truck in 1961 in Seattle, WA. Eric resides in Garden Grove, CA. To the union of Julia Zackary, Julie Antoinette Simington was born in Jennings, LA. Julie died tragically at the age of 20. To the union of Ura Lee Phillips, Kenneth P. Simington was born in Little Rock, AR. To the union of Lena Walker, Yvette Walker was born in Lumberton, NC. He married Gloria Trimmings in Orleans, France. To this union two sons were born Kennon Marlon and Saul Keith Simington. Marlon was born in La Chapelle, France, and Saul at Walter Reed General Hospital in Washington, DC. Saul died in 2007 of malignant Paraganglioma a rare and slow growing tumor that was genetically inherited from Pop. Kennon Simington. Jr. was born to the union of Wannafah (Belle) Srisatchanalai of NakhonPhanom City North East of Thailand. He was married to Jennifer of China and Rachel of the Philippine No children were born to these unions. Specialist Sixth Class Simington retired from the military in 1966 and began another career as a private contractor with Paige Electronic Company in Bangkok, Thailand. for ten years. In Thailand he owned two restaurants. After returning to the states he worked for Metro. In Washington, DC. Later He worked several years in China. In his later years he made his home in Glendale, AZ where he enjoyed the companionship of his sons, Marlon, Kenneth and Kennon Jr. His granddaughter Shala came sometime and prepared meals for him to freeze. He was proud of his children and their many occupations that included a pilot for United Airlines, Amtrak engineer, President, Tumbleweed Development Group, Inc., educator/lawyer/writer, professional photographer and architect. Kennon is survived by his children, Eric Rudolph Simington of Garden Grove, CA, Yvette Walker of Charlotte, NC, Kenneth P. Simington (Elvira) of Glendale, AZ, ,Kennon Marlon Simington of Upper Marlboro, MD , and Kennon Simington, Jr of Glendale, AZ., grandchildren, Shala Miller of Douglasville, GA, Carolyn Simington Davis of Cypress, TX, Brooke Simington of Texas, Kenneth Simington, II of Australia, Zadie Arie Walker of New York City, Riley Leonard Trindade-Simington of Laurel, MD, Gabrielle Simington of Jersey City, NJ, and several Great grands, Hunter Davis, Jabril Miller, Brielle Walker, Bayleigh McCullough, Tamiya and Liam Simington. He had one special friend of many years, Judy Smith of Seattle, Washington. He lived his life to the fullest reaching 91 years with good mental health and some black hair. Now your journey of life has ended Pop. GOD HAS CALLED YOUR SOUL TO REST. WE WILL MISS YOU POP, BUT YOUR SPIRIT WILL LIVE ON IN YOUR CHILDREN.   Acknowledgement Thanks to Pop’s neighbor Angel Rodriquez who was his guardian angel and kept a watchful eye on him. Much appreciations to his son, KP for his dedicated loyalty and loving care of Pop over the years. As his ex-wife and friend, it has been a pleasure formatting this program entitled THE JOURNEY, researching Ancestry, Fold Three, Instant Checkmate, gathering photos and recalling memories of Kennon over the years calling and sending plants and small gifts until his journey’s end. Thank you to all his children, grands and great grands that helped to make the autumn of Pop’s life a pleasurable journey. We express gratitude to granddaughter Shala who sometime came and made meals for him to freeze. She lifted his spirit.
