Majorie Ament “Marge”, born in Dodgeville, Wisconsin on 8/21/1932 peacefully passed away in her sleep on the morning of July 25, 2026, her legacy is that of a strong willed ambitious independent woman whom helped heal anyone in need of health care while loving her family and friend’s company by either baking or knitting something to share with them to brighten their day.

She graduated Edgewood high school in 1950 then began her extensive professional nursing career while attending St Francis School of Nursing in Freeport, IL then graduating in 1954.

She married John L Ament on September 2, 1956 and settled in Freeport, Il where they built a family of four boys from 1956 to 1964 all the while diligently working as an Operating Room Nurse at St Francis then Freeport Memorial Hospitals while raising her children.

In the spring of 1977 Marge decides that Phoenix AZ is the place to be. Marge and John quit their jobs, sold their home on 1318 SW Ave and packed up all that they had into a 50ft Rental Truck along with the boys and three days later they arrived in Phoenix AZ with no jobs, or regrets and no looking back.

Marge found work within days of arriving at Boswell Hospital then eventually the Veterans Memorial Hospital in downtown.

As she wound down her nursing career from 2003 to 2010 by becoming a travelling nurse where she served remote outposts of Sitka Alaska for many tours. Marge loved to travel across America and to other exotic destinations like the Galapagos Islands.

Marge spent her final years at Sierra Winds independent and assisted living. Marge loved her visits from her sons, granddaughters, nieces, extended family and nursing friends during her stay at the facility.

Marjorie Ament is preceded in death by her parents, Marie (Imhoff) and Alphons Linscheid; her sister Patricia Fecht her brother Joe Lincheid, Sister-in-law Barb Lincheid, her first husband John L Ament, her second husband Antonio Deanda, her son Joseph Paul Ament, her nephews, Ryan Linscheid, Joe Fecht; and niece Kate Dudzik. Majorie will be deeply missed by her Sons; Bill, John, and Michael and her siblings; Bill Linscheid, Art (JoDean) Linscheid, Jim (Judith) Linscheid, Mary (Wayne) Friedrich, and Alphons “Zeke” (Barbara) Linscheid, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rest in peace, Marge. Your dedication to caring for others and loving memories will forever be imprinted in the minds you touched. You always reminded us to give more than to receive, you cherished life with sharing your love and laughter while enjoying a cup of coffee and baking us your fresh baked goods and knitting us a beautiful piece of clothing or blanket to keep us warm and at peace.

A memorial mass is pending for later in 2026 where she will be laid to rest with John at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. The Menke Funeral Home of Sun City AZ is assisting the family with arrangements.
