With deep love and gratitude, we share the passing of Marvin Elroy “Roy” Sievers, who departed peacefully on October 18, 2025, with his beloved wife of 72 years, Donna, by his side.
Born in Onida, South Dakota, Roy was the youngest—and by many accounts, the most spirited—of seven siblings. He grew up on a farm near Parkston and later Mitchell, where his early years were shaped by hard work, mischief, and a strong sense of family. In March 1952, he joined the U.S. Air Force, launching a 20-year career that took him and Donna across the globe—from England and Guam to Alaska, Thailand, Japan, and Vietnam. He married Donna Mohr on October 3, 1953, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, resilience, and adventure. Roy served first as a Military Policeman and later as a Club Steward, retiring in Phoenix, Arizona in 1972.
Roy and Donna built a second chapter together as co-owners of Rushmore Air Conditioning & Sheet Metal, running the business for nearly three decades. Roy was known not just for his craftsmanship, but for his generosity—quietly helping families in need, sometimes even accepting a chihuahua in exchange for a service call, because he believed the pup deserved a better home.
Faith was a steady compass in Roy’s life. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He also found joy in community and recreation, especially as a longtime member of Palmbrook Country Club, where he and Donna lived along the 8th fairway. Golf, RV road trips, Arizona Cardinal football, and NASCAR were among his favorite pastimes.
Roy was admired for his integrity, his zest for life, and his unwavering devotion to family. Long before the phrase existed, he was the ultimate “girl dad” of three —a proud and loving father who also embraced the role of patriarch of the Sievers family with humor, humility, and heart.
He is survived by his wife Donna (Mohr); daughters Debra Marette (Jack), Sandra (Mark Militano), and Theresa Smith (Lee); grandchildren Jessica Robinson (Chad), Chad Smith (Gena), and Emma Smith; great-grandchildren Audrey Robinson, Waylon, Ripton, and Stetson Smith; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Roy’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the stories he told, and the love he gave so freely.
A Military Service, interment and a Celebration of Life will be held in January 2026.
