Mary O'Malley

Mary Kay O’Malley was born November 19, 1938 in Gary, IN and passed away on June 21, 2022 in Peoria, AZ. She is predeceased by parents James Kirby Spalding and Virginia Spalding, husband Edward O’Malley and sister Lorraine (Terry) O’Brien. She is survived by brother Jim Spalding (Carole), daughter Mary O’Malley (Jay Caldwell), son Paul O’Malley (Kylee) and grandchildren Justin, Jamie, Paul, Charlotte, Landon and Patrick. Kay grew up in Gary, Indiana and graduated from Bishop Noll HS in 1956 and Marquette University in 1960. She married Ed O’Malley in 1970, and they raised their family in Hobart, Indiana until retiring to Sun City, AZ in 2001. She was a high school History/ French teacher for 35 years in the Gary Community Schools and very active at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, teaching catechism classes for several years. She also donated time to help women who were victims of domestic violence and helped adults with special needs. Kay traveled extensively and taught a year in Australia as well. A funeral mass is scheduled for July 14th at 10:00 AM at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, Sun City, Arizona.
