“Milly”, Mildred Dummer Hillesheim of Peoria, AZ, 89, was born in New Ulm, MN on 4/30/1937. She passed 6/6/2026. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 yrs, Melvin Hillesheim who passed 2/2019. They were married in 1958 in New Ulm, MN. They lived in Colorado 12 yrs, Portales NM 17 yrs, La Jolla CA 3 yrs, and Arizona 32 yrs.

Milly was a newspaper publisher in 5 cities throughout NM (including Portales) and in Arizona, before they retired in Sun City, AZ. She was a realtor, and together they owned 3 restaurants (incl Tastee Freez of Portales & Gallup), multiple businesses (incl Playmates children’s stores of Portales & Clovis), 47 rental properties and renovated 13 personal homes.

Milly is survived by her brother Dave Dummer & wife Nikki in MN, SIL Marjorie Dummer in MN: son Mark Hillesheim & wife Vicki in New Bronxville, NY, their daughters Kelsy, Sarah, Hanna: daughter Maria Hillesheim Jensen & husband Melvin (Mel) Jensen Jr in Peoria, AZ, their daughter Jillian Jensen Fleming & husband Christopher (Toph) Fleming in Dallas, TX and their children Clara & Cole .

Milly is preceded in death by her father Casper Dummer, mother Theresa Liebl Dummer, 3 brothers: Donat Dummer, wife Vernita, Fr. Leo Dummer, Joe Dummer (Marjorie) and 3 sisters: Bernice Dummer Palmer & husband James, Ann Dummer Powers & husband Jim, Joan Dummer Rosenhamer & husband Pat. Granddaughter: Elizabeth Jensen

Milly had the gift of loving everyone well. She was dad’s best friend, a great mom, sister, auntie and friend. Our home was always full of family, and the friends that have lasted a lifetime. The last few years, she & new friends from the different facilities looked after each other like family. Mom’s sweetest gift bloomed most from her final years… in her wheelchair, with her cell phone. We are still learning from so many how much it mattered, and she would be overwhelmed by how much each of YOU have reached out to us now returning the love. Thank you!

A Memorial Service will be held on Sat July 25th at 11:00am at Desert Breeze Community Church, 17600 N Black Cyn Hwy, Phoenix, AZ 85053 a lite lunch to follow. We also treasure the Masses being offered in her name in Minnesota and Phx.
