Obituary

Patricia Ann McKinney was born in Kanasas City, Missouri on June 28, 1935 to Harold and Eugenia Chalmers. She was preceded in death by her husband Burless “Ken” McKinney and brother, Robert Chalmers. At an early age, Patricia and her brother moved to her mother’s family home near Warm Springs, Georgia. Growing up a Georgia girl on a dairy farm in the area, she lined up with early classmates to greet FDR, was crowned May Queen and graduated from Manchester High, and commuted via weekend train rides to her first big job at an Atlanta bank. In the early 1970’s, Patricia moved with husband and son to Arizona and started the Western half of her life. Working most of her life, she took great pride in her work and time spent in banking, legal, insurance and government administration. Her favorite Arizona job and friendships were derived from many years spent with the Arizona Department of Education. Patricia shall be so greatly missed and is survived by her sister, Nancy Nelson of Roswell, Georgia; son John McKinney (Holly) and 2 grandchildren. Visitation will be Noon-1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center followed by graveside services at 2:00 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, Arizona.
