Paul Seltzer

March 1, 1942 — May 6, 2022

Paul Ambrose Seltzer, age 80, died on May 6, 2022. A resident of Sun City, AZ, he was recovering from surgery and respiratory difficulties at an assisted living facility in Peoria, AZ. The cause of death was respiratory failure and systemic infection. Paul was the fourth child of Miriam Dean Beery and Paul Ambrose Seltzer. He grew up in Lansdowne and Villanova, PA. He was graduated from Friends Central School in Wynnewood, PA. He went on to Penn State University, where he proudly wore the costume of the university’s mascot, the Nittany Lion, cavorting at football games and representing Penn State at many events. He was member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He graduated in 1965 with a B.S. in Marketing. After a brief stint at Girard Bank in Philadelphia, he moved to Detroit, MI, to put his Marketing degree to the test at R. L. Polk & Co. He designed and managed direct marketing campaigns, in which organizations communicate specifically to pre-selected customers and supply a method for a direct response. He then worked in Houston, TX, and went on to establish his own direct marketing company in Bainbridge, WA. He moved to Phoenix, AZ, and ended his working career after many years with the Computer Graphics firm. He was director of the homeowners’ association at his condo development in Carefree, AZ, for many years. Paul is survived by three sisters, Pamela Seltzer Royer of Dallas TX; Marilyn (Beeps) Seltzer Clark and her husband Bill of Nashua, NH; Judith Seltzer and her husband Robert Tucker of Santa Fe, NM; and a sister-in-law Anne Seltzer of Gwynedd, PA, the widow of his older brother Dean. Paul was the doting uncle of nine, and proud great-uncle of 18, all of whom he cherished. A memorial service will take place in Santa Fe, NM, at a date to be determined. At his request, his ashes will be interred at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY, where his grandparents, parents and older brother are buried. Memorial donations may be sent by clicking on this link: raise.psu.edu/deanseltzer. Checks can be written payable to "The Pennsylvania State University” with "Dean B. Seltzer Wrestling Scholarship” on the memo line; these should be mailed to Penn State University, 2583 Gateway Drive, Suite 130, State College, PA 16801.
