Robert E. Addington, 90, of Sun City, Arizona, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010. He was born September 18, 1919, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Raymond and Nell (Thompson) Addington. He married Marie E. Butschy on February 13, 1943, a marriage that lasted for 64 years. He retired in 1980 as a Division Engineer from John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, after 42 years of service. A Sun City resident since 1996, Robert was a life-long golfer, having belonged to Beaver Hills Country Club in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and numerous courses in Sun City. He had a great love for crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, two brothers and two sisters. His survivors include his daughter, Kathleen Brackett (Peter), of Indialantic, FL., his sons John (Edyie) of Findley, OH., and Michael (DeDe) of Bettendorf, IA., six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
