Roger Jaquith "Jake"

January 31, 1935 — September 20, 2022

Roger H. Jaquith (Jake) passed away on September 20, 2022 after battling Parkinson's. Roger is survived by his wife Lois and son David. Daughter Lori (Wife of Michael Andre) was taken by cancer in 2019. Roger was born 87 years ago in Vermont. Brother Reginald and family reside in Vermont. Roger enlisted in the US Air Force after high school and was accepted into pilot training. He served his country, flew combat missions, and was a decorated fighter pilot for 29 years. Roger was awarded both the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Meritorious Service Medal. After retirement from the Air Force, he worked as a consultant for Boeing Corporation. Roger and Lois were married at Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan, a marriage which lasted 61 years. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and grandfather. Grandchildren Chris Andre, Megan Fisher (Jeremy), Lauren Key (Jonathan), and Ashley Andre were greatly loved by him. Great Grandchildren Lucas Fisher, Hudson Key, and Grayson Key are the icing on the cake. Roger loved sports and cheering for the Boston Celtics and New England Patriots. The AZ Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns, and AZ Cardinals were added to his list of favorites. He enjoyed card games and anything competitive. Roger is remembered by his love ones as being a diligent hard worker, a lover of time with family, and quite the handyman. Each trip to visit his family would typically include a to-do list of home repairs and projects, which he would tackle with enthusiasm. It always seemed that work was a delight for him. He was the kind of man who not only knew hot to do the work, but could teach others how to do the task as well. It was a running joke with his family that his favorite place seemed to be Home Depot and that the employees had to know him by name with the frequency of his visits there. Roger passed on several pieces of advice to his grandchildren like how to take good care of their vehicles and how to make measurements when hanging things in their homes. Some of his family's fondest memories were made over summers spent all together in Arizona when his grandkids were younger and beach trips to the Outer Banks as his grandchildren got older. His family's best Christmas' were spent together in NC where brownies were made with nuts and many friendly cribbage tournaments took place. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who loved him. The family will hold a celebration of his life in North Carolina later this year.
