Sam Dominick Vaccaro, 100, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024. Born on May 27, 1924, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Sam lived a life filled with love, dedication, and passion.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Mary Vaccaro. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless cherished memories. Sam leaves behind his children and their spouses: Guy Vaccaro and Rita Kennedy, Janet and Milt Priggee, Tom and Deb Vaccaro, and Jim and Lena Vaccaro. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and a great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Carmela Vaccaro.
A dedicated educator, Sam attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison. His commitment to the arts and education led him to become the chairman of the art departments at Proviso East and West high schools, where he influenced and inspired countless students.
An avid golfer, Sam found joy and camaraderie on the golf course. He also loved playing bridge with friends, a pastime that brought him great happiness. For the past 30 years, Sam was a resident of Sun City West, where he dedicated his time to volunteering at the Alzheimer’s unit, offering compassion and support to those in need.
In his leisure, Sam enjoyed watching Dick Van Dyke reruns nightly, a simple pleasure that brought him much delight.
Sam Dominick Vaccaro will be remembered for his warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family and community. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
