Sheila D. Sorensen passed away on 8/8/26 of lung cancer, in the care of Hospice, at Sunrise Gardens Assisted Living in El Mirage, AZ. Sheila was born on October 26, 1945 in Tyler Minnesota to Elmer and Fern Schardin. She attended all twelve years of education in Lake Benton MN schools, and was a High School Cheerleader and Band member. She married her High School sweetheart, John Sorensen, on July 6, 1963.

Sheila began her professional career as a Secretary for a farm-related business in Pipestone, MN. She became a Manager’s Executive Assistant for the Sears Corporation, after she and John moved to Schaumburg IL. In 2003, Sheila and John began spending winter months in Sun City AZ, and summer months on their boat on Lake Michigan and later in a home, in the woods of Crivitz WI.

In 2015, the couple became full time residents of Sun City. Together, they enjoyed motorcycling, golf, Corvette cruising and group activities with friends. Sheila was active in the Sun Cities Saddle Club, helping to organize rides and events. She belonged to the Women’s Golf Assn, and spent hours playing the Sun City courses and socializing with her golf group, the “Bunker Babes.”

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Stuart Schardin, and her husband John, after 56 years of marriage. Interment is being handled by Menke Funeral & Cremation Ctr. A graveside service will be held on November 5, 2026 at 10:00am at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 2929 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ.
