Thomas Schwertfeger

On Monday, September 12, 2022, Thomas G. Schwertfeger, a loving Brother to seven siblings and Uncle to 22 nieces and nephews, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 75. Tom was born on June 25, 1947 in Blue Island, IL to Joseph and Margaret (Haase) Schwertfeger. He was the youngest of eight children. He graduated from Wickenburg HS, joined the Air Force in 1966 and served for four years. He was a union Operating Engineer in Chicago IL for 35 years and retired in AZ near three of his siblings. He was an altar server. He was a wonderful godfather. He loved animals. He was handsome and the life of the party. He was generous, smart, loving, and kind. Tom was preceded in death by his father Joseph, his mother Margaret, his sister Audrey Janotta, his sister Clarita Caswell, and his brother Bernard. He is survived by his brother Leroy, sister Marilyn West, sister Joan Olsen, sister Judy Larsen, Godchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave, Sun City, AZ on Monday, September 26, 2022, from 8 am - 9:30 am. The funeral mass will be at 10 am at St Joachim and St. Anne Parish at 11625 N 111th Ave, Sun City, AZ 85351. Graveside service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ at 1:30 pm. Memorial gifts can be made to the Arizona Humane Society.
