Virginia Lydic

July 13, 1933 — March 14, 2023

Virginia “Ginny” (Washam) Lydic, 89, passed away March 14th, 2023 in Surprise, AZ. She was born July 13, 1933 in Phoenix, AZ to Walter and Helen Washam. Ginny was the youngest of the 5 children from that union. Ginny spent her childhood growing up on the homestead in Surprise, AZ. She was athletic in High School, and was on both the Volleyball team and Cheerleading Squad. She married her HS Sweetheart Clarence Lydic in 1953 and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage until his passing in February 2020. During their marriage they spent most of those years living in the Peoria area, raising their 4 beautiful children. Clarence built their lovely ranch style house in the early 1970’s where grandkids grew up and family often gathered. Ginny worked for a short time at Sperry, but spent most of her life as a Homemaker. She was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling, cards and other activities as well. After Clarence's retirement they enjoyed traveling in their RV. They would travel to Missouri where they had a second home for sometime, and to see Grandchildren in other states. They also were Wagon Masters for Alaska trips and very much enjoyed that time and those adventures. From 1994-1996 they moved to Russia where Clarence worked in the US Embassy and Ginny worked for the Commissary and Post Office. They did a lot of traveling and sightseeing while over there and really enjoyed that time. They finally settled in Sun City and enjoyed card games, and visiting with family and friends from all over. There are many words to describe Ginny, she was more than a Mother, Grandma, Sister, Friend, she was loving, warm, kind, compassionate and above all giving. Her love and faith in the Lord was unwavering, she was faithful in prayer daily. Ginny was always there when you needed her, and even when you didn’t think you did. She will be greatly missed, and always wonderfully and fondly remembered.
