Virginia Lopinski Watson

July 14, 1945 — July 9, 2025

Sun City, Arizona

Virginia L. Watson, 79, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at Banner Boswell Hospital following a brief but painful battle with septic shock caused by an ischemic bowel.

A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10am Thursday Sept 11th at ST CLEMENT OF ROME Catholic Church , 15800 Del Webb Boulevard. Sun City, AZ 85351

She is survived by her loving husband Tom, her sister Gerry, brother Tom, daughter Amy and son-in-law Frank, and her beloved granddaughter Francesca Cecelia Bayless, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Cecelia, and her brother Ed.

Ginny was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, and in 1966 made a bold move to Montana, where she attended St. Joseph’s Practical Nursing School in Lewistown. After graduation, she began her nursing career at St. Joseph’s Hospital, later moving to Billings, where she continued her work at both the Billings Hospital and the Billings Clinic.

Ginny met Tom in Billings and they were married in 1976 at St. Patrick’s Co-Cathedral, where she was a longtime member until their move to Butte in 1989. In Butte, Ginny joined St. Ann’s Catholic Church, where she became active in the women’s guild and further developed a lifelong passion for quilting. Her quilting circle blossomed into a rich community of treasured friends.

In 2007, after Tom’s retirement from North Western Energy, the couple relocated to Sun City, Arizona. Ginny quickly became part of the St. Clement Catholic Church family and its women’s guild, building new friendships and continuing her generous spirit and creative pursuits.

Ginny’s final year tested her strength and spirit beyond measure. Following a series of health setbacks—including fracturing hips, surgeries, hospitalizations, and the eventual loss of mobility—she faced each trial with quiet resilience and grace. Though the pain became unbearable, her faith never wavered. On July 9th at 7:41 a.m., with her husband by her side, Ginny entered eternal rest.

She prayed for release, and we believe God heard her. Ginny has joined Him in heaven, free from suffering.

Remember her as she was — a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, loyal friend, and a woman of extraordinary endurance, warmth, and kindness.
