Vivian Dove Putman passed peacefully February 3, 2025 in Phoenix at the age of 90. Born in Fort Defiance, AZ to parents Edgar and Ruth Stocks in 1934, she was a proud Arizona native raised in the wilds of Tuba City, attended high school at Wasatch Academy (graduating in 2 years at 16 years old), worked summers at Phantom Ranch in the Grand Canyon then attended ASU where she met her future husband Earl to whom she enjoyed 54 years of a wonderful marriage until his passing.
Along the way she received university degrees in math and a masters degree in education while having four children. Her career as a beloved educator was mainly at the Cholla and Saguaro Schools within the Washington Elementary School District.
She was a world traveler, accomplished bridge player and golfer and more importantly a great mother and grandmother.
She is predeceased by her husband Earl, daughter Denise Major, siblings Donald, Maxine and Samuel. She is survived by sons William (Kathy) and Dale(Denise) daughter Kathleen(Michael) and son-in-law Art Major, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Services will be held at Menke Funeral Center, 12420 N 103rd Ave, Sun City, AZ 85351, at 11a.m. on Saturday March 1st with reception to follow.
