I will always remember Pappy’s shrill whistle out the back door on Washington Street, Slatington & the instant results it would produce. Any Gades, regardless of their age @ the time, froze to attention & instantly dashed home. The look of fear told me it wasn’t about the good cookin @ home.
Also I remember the look of amusement as he sat in his recliner when 2 of his sons would pair off in a full scale, furniture smashing, wrestling match in the living room.
Pappy was one of a kind. A good man that brought up a good family.
