Melvin C. Smith

Melvin C. Smith, 94, a resident of El Dorado in Sun City, and a former resident of Chicago, IL and Clearwater, FL died Friday, January 30, 2009. Mr. Smith was born Sept. 19, 1914 in Bloomington, IL where he went through grade school, high school and graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University. During WWII Melvin served in the U.S. Army Air Force and taught basic flying. Melvin worked for the government as a Systems Analyst retiring in the early seventies. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Kaye. He is survived by his wife Bernice; a nephew Chad Osgood, and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 8977 W. Athens St., Peoria, AZ 85382 or to a favorite charity. Private arrangements were made by Menke Funeral Home.
